Storm warning “Uwan” approaches PAR

MANILA, Philippines — Severe tropical storm “Fung-Wong” has been renamed “Uwan” by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) as it nears the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the storm was estimated to be 1,175 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.

It has maximum sustained winds of 110 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph as it moves westward at 25 kph. It has strong to storm-force winds that extend outwards up to 780 km from the center.
